A Refurbishment & Demolition Survey is needed before any refurbishment or demolition work is carried out. This type of survey is used to locate and describe, as far as reasonably practicable, all Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) in the area where the refurbishment work will take place, or in the whole building if demolition is planned.
The survey will be fully intrusive and involve destructive inspection, as necessary, to gain access to all areas, including those that may be difficult to reach. A Refurbishment & Demolition Survey may also be required in other circumstances, for example when more intrusive maintenance and repair work will be carried out or for plant removal or dismantling.
We are also able to offer an ongoing service of regular re-inspections to assist our clients with their ongoing asbestos management.
We've answered the common questions we get asked about this service
If you own, manage or operate a building or business, you will need to comply with the relevant legislation. The main law is the Control of Asbestos regulations 2012, more commonly known as the CAR 2012.
CAR 2012 applies to virtually all non-domestic buildings and it is your responsibility to make sure the workplace meets the required standards. Suitable and sufficient assessments must be carried out by a competent person.
Responsibility for the provision of a compliant assessment lies with the external consultancy who has fully qualified surveyors.
We are based in the West Midlands, but our assessors work nationwide. The majority of our work is in London, Birmingham and Manchester, however we look after our clients’ properties all over the UK, including The Channel Islands and Northern Ireland.
Dependent on the size and location of the building, or type of survey, our Refurbishment & Demolition Surveys can start from just £250. Our prices come with no hidden costs and we provide an after-care service to all of our clients offering ongoing advice and meetings where necessary.

Support for each and every risk assessment
To assist in your understanding of health and safety requirements, we will identify hazards on site and, for each one, we will determine how well we believe you are currently complying with health and safety standards through observation, evaluation of documentation and discussion.
For quality assurance, RM has a two stage validation process for each and every audit that is published. First the report is verified by the assessor that carried out the assessment, and secondly the respective Department Head reviews and validates the report before publishing to the client.
To help you to actively manage your risks, RM publishes all of its assessment reports to BLOCK7 where, amongst other things, you will be able to view and download static and dynamic PDF reports. In addition, you can view and search risks according to the categorisation of Intolerable, Substantial and Moderate, or Monitor & Review with Traffic Light methodology.
